Taiwan will promote the usefulness of Formosat data for disaster management purposes, while LAPAN will promote the imageries taken by SPOT 5/6, Landsat 8 or FengYun, Modis or terra aqua for similar purposes. The technique from geological perspective related to remote sensing will also be acknowledge by Institute of 10th November as the host of the ICOIRS. A field visit study will also be held to check the works from class to in situ.

Bromo was selected as the core of the workshop due to the activities of volcanoes along the ring of fires countries lately. Mt. Bromo is part of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, located in the southeast of Surabaya. It is the only conservation area in Indonesia that has a sand sea1. This sand sea is the caldera of an ancient volcano (Tengger) from which four new volcanic cones have emerged, i.e Mount Bromo (2,329 m), Mount Batok (2,470 m), Mount Kursi (2,581 m), Mount Watangan (2,661 m), and Mount Widodaren (2,650 m). Mount Batok is the only peak that is no longer active. This unique feature of Bromo Tengger National Parks covers a total area of 5,250 hectares at an altitude of about 2,100 m sea 1.
